At Sandhills Comprehensive Treatment Centers, we know that truly effective opioid addiction treatment involves more than merely alleviating withdrawal symptoms or reducing cravings. When a person abuses and becomes addicted to opioids such as morphine, heroin, and prescription medications, he or she is very likely to also be dealing with emotional or psychological issues that either contributed to or were exacerbated by the abuse of such substances. Regardless of the cause-effect relationship between opioid addiction and any underlying issues or co-occurring disorders, treatment that fails to acknowledge all of these factors is not putting the patient in the best position to achieve long-term recovery.
The comprehensive care that patients receive at Sandhills Comprehensive Treatment Centers is designed to identify all of emotional, psychological, and behavioral factors that may have led to the patient’s substance abuse problem, of which must be addressed in order to prepare him or her for a successful drug-free future. When patients are prescribed medications to alleviate opioid withdrawal, they have the opportunity to stop using opioids without experiencing drug cravings or other side effects. Freed from the physical pain of withdrawal, they have the opportunity to focus on the emotional trauma and psychological distress that, if left untreated, will undermine their efforts to stay sober. At our three treatment centers, this component of treatment occurs in the following therapeutic environments:
- Individual therapy
- Group therapy
All therapy at Sandhills Comprehensive Treatment Centers is provided by experienced professionals who possess specific expertise in helping men and women overcome the emotional and psychological challenges that are associated with substance abuse and addiction. Because our centers place a premium on providing personalized care, the type and frequency of therapy incorporated into each patient’s treatment plan will be based upon an assessment of his or her unique needs.
